No Surprises, Please

The No Surprises Act helps protect people from “surprise medical bills” and from unfair medical debts. Especially after emergency treatment when consumers are rarely informed of the costs of medical treatment before emergency treatment and may have little or no ability to “shop around.”

The No Surprises Act (NSA) is intended to offer certain protections related to health care services. It went into effect Jan 1, 2022. It is not consistently followed.
