Every West Virginian knows about the Battle of Blair Mountain, a major labor uprising in West Virginia in 1921. 10,000+ coal miners armed themselves to protest unsafe working conditions leading to major health issues and death, low wages, and company control over their lives. A decade later the federal government passed laws against the abuses.
Health care is the Blair Mountain of our time.
